Ok so as you all know I am new to the whole nail art game and doing my own nails and what have you. So I am also learning about new products as I go along.
Well the other day I was browsing my local Sally's Beauty Supply and came across
Beauty Secrets Nail Polish Dryer and I thought "heck yeah anything to help my nails dry faster and keep them from smudging".
So I picked a can of it up and tried it out today. So let me first start by saying:
- Shake the bejesus out of it!
- DON'T FOCUS ON ONE NAIL AT A TIME, do the spray in a sweeping motion.
- Ventilation is KEY!!
- NO OPEN FLAMES ANYWHERE NEAR WHERE YOU ARE SPRAYING YOUR NAILS.
Ok so the aerosol propellent is a combination of butane and propane, with a few other big words. Going through the 4 things I covered. I found that it works a lot better if you shake it up, even though i don't think it says anything about needing to on the can. Because of the propellent, you can quite honestly freeze your fingers and cause serious pain and possible damage to the finger, skin, and nail. If you do it in a concentrated by sweeping motion, it doesn't have a chance to really hurt to bad. What I did was did to the count of 3 (1.........2..........3...........3..........2.........1) now if you are using it on yourself then do whatever is comfortable for you. Once you've used it on yourself you will see what I mean about the cold. Now for me ventilation wasn't a big issue, it has a really nice smell (in my opinion) but it may be an issue from someone else. And with the open flame thing, well yeah its butane and propane, so butane is what they use in lighters, and propane is a flammable gas, so that is all i'm going to say on that.
So here is the over all review on this product.
I will give it a 4 out of 5 stars. It does cut down your drying time by almost 3 minutes (i'm using regular polish with no special drying time). But what I found is that if you do something like the photo below, it does take more time if you have thicker area's, So like the polkadots some were thicker than others but anyways it took less than 5 minutes. This is something that i'm going to keep in my arsenal because I like it so much.
